MCS / At Home Hospital Equipment Advance Directives Policy

 

MCS / At Home Hospital Equipment would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing our company.  We are a privately owned and independently operated medical equipment and respiratory supply company.  Our mission is to supply durable medical equipment and respiratory care services that meets or exceeds the standards of the industry while providing customer service that exceeds the expectations of our patients and referral sources.

 

MCS / At Home Hospital Equipment, our Respiratory Therapists and trained Customer Service Technicians take exceptional pride in the care they deliver.  The MCS / At Home Hospital Equipment Representative will address any safety factors in your home or other place of residence.  We hope the information provided will prove helpful in assisting you make your place of residence as safe and accessible as possible.  Please contact us at 1-800-765-4697 with any problems or safety concerns you have so that we can continue to improve service and equipment.

 

We at MCS / At Home Hospital Equipment have provided you with a Patient's Bill of Rights and shall honor those rights.  We understand that forming Advance Directive and/or Living Wills are part of your rights as a patient.  The staff of MCS / At Home Hospital Equipment will honor those Advance Directives that you have given us to the best of our ability.  In case we are asked to withdraw (pickup) medical equipment which might be considered life sustaining, we will do so only with written direction from your physician who is implementing your written Advance Directive, and only after a family member or the physician has turned the equipment off and removed it from the patient.

 

In an emergency situation where medical assistance is required and employees of MCS / At Home Hospital Equipment are present in the home, the employee would call 911 and wait for emergency medical assistance to arrive.  If MCS / At Home Hospital Equipment has been informed that the patient has made an Advance Directive indicating a wish NOT to be resuscitated, the MCS / At Home Hospital Equipment employee will inform the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), that to the  best of their (employee) knowledge an Advance Directive exists.  It is up to you, the patient, or your caregiver to make this document readily available to the EMT.  It is understood if the Advance Directive cannot be found; the EMT will proceed with full, aggressive intervention up to and including CPR.
